About Project

FunctionalBits (Green Scheduler) Built to reduce the environmental impact of cloud computing, FunctionalBits intelligently schedules computational jobs by delaying or redirecting them to regions powered by low-carbon or renewable energy sources, helping organizations lower their carbon footprint. Key Features -Carbon-Aware Routing: Intelligently delays or routes computational jobs to regions with lower carbon intensity (e.g., below 150 gCO₂/kWh) for more sustainable execution. -Real-time API Integration: Connects with live carbon intensity providers such as Electricity Maps to make real-time scheduling decisions based on energy grid conditions. -Impact Tracking: Calculates and visualizes the total carbon emissions saved through intelligent job scheduling and optimization. Technical Deep Dive -Scheduling Engine: Built with FastAPI, utilizing Celery and Redis to manage reliable and asynchronous background job queues. -Database & Storage: Uses PostgreSQL through Supabase for persistent storage of job states, scheduling history, and carbon emission metrics. -Frontend Dashboard: Developed with React and Vite, styled using Tailwind CSS, to provide an interactive dashboard for monitoring active jobs and visualizing carbon savings.
